MISSION

This project positions The Metropolitan Museum of Art as a gateway to the world, using its collections as entry points into global cultures through an ethnographic lens that centers lived experience, cultural context, and meaning-making. By thoughtfully connecting artworks at The Met to contemporary neighborhoods, foodways, music, and cultural institutions in New York City, the project transforms museum visits into immersive and respectful encounters. The goal is to deepen cultural understanding, expand access for those unable to travel, and foster reflective engagement grounded in observation, context, and cultural authenticity rather than consumption.
